The Bikernis – a group in Pune, India, is the first ever motorcyclist association of women only ! Founded by Urvashi Patole and Firdaus Shaikh in Pune, The Bikerni is a group of women all over India, and abroad who come from different religions, age groups, backgrounds, but all sharing the same passion – biking. Their aim is simple – to achieve women empowerment throughout India, and throughout the world! Apart from their numerous other achievements, The Bikernis achieved an unbelievable feat to most people – in 2011, a group of 10 bikernis created a world record for the Largest All-Women Motorcycle Expedition to Khardung-La (the highest motor-able pass in the world), and have got recognition in The Limca Book of World Records.
(I, who have answered this question am also a Bikerni, and extremely proud to be one.. To be at par with men in the field considered to be totally male dominated ever since the machine was invented)
