The British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, has launched the new Tiger 800 in three variants in India. The three Tiger 800 variants are – XR, XRx and XCx and they are priced at Rs. 11.76 lakhs, Rs. 13.13 lakhs and Rs. 13.76 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, India) respectively.

The XR variants are road-focused adventure tourers as they get alloy wheels while the XC variant is an offroad-oriented adventure motorcycle as it gets spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres.

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 gets an 800cc, in-line-3-cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine that makes 95 PS of power and 79 Nm of torque. These power figures are similar to the older model but the engine has been tuned to be smoother and more responsive. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox whose first gear is shorter for better off-road riding and low-speed response (better torque output at the bottom end). And among the many mechanical changes, are a new crankshaft and a new clutch.

In terms of styling, the new 2018 Tiger 800 features new aero diffusers, full-LED lights on top-spec models (XRx and XCx), newly backlit switchgear and an adjustable screen. The handlebar moves back by 10mm while the seat gets 20mm of adjustability – a boon for shorter riders. The top-end model, XCx gets fully adjustable WP suspension, Brembo brakes and a full TFT display for both XRx and XCx variants.
