Where is dog clutch used?

Dog or splined clutches are used in synchromesh and constant mesh gearbox. These clutches have teeth on their side face which engage only when both sets of teeth match perfectly. The dog clutch consists of equally spaced protrusions (teeth) on the side which mesh into an identical recess on the gear. These teeth are known as dog teeth.
