Tata Punch Launched In India At Rs. 5.49 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, India)

Tata Motors has finally launched the Punch micro-SUV in India at Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Punch micro-SUV is the company’s first product to be based on the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform. The prices start at Rs. 5.49 lakhs and goes up to 9.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

It is available in four variants – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative, and in seven colour options, with a single-engine option offered in both manual and automatic gearbox units.

Tata Punch is the company’s smallest SUV and sits below the Nexon in the company’s SUV line-up, and it is also the latest Tata car to get a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.

Being built on the ALFA architecture, the Tata Punch is developed under Tata’s new Impact 2.0 design philosophy. It rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, gets projector headlamps and LED DRLs, stylish roof rails, dual-tone roof, signature LED taillights, Tata’s humanity line grill, and SUV styling like-body cladding on the doors, wheels arches and sill cladding. The Punch gets a ground clearance of 187mm and has a water wading capacity of 370mm.

On the inside, the car gets a granite black dashboard, glacier grey inserts and premium fabric seats with the signature tri-arrow pattern. The 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There are 6-speakers, a 7-inch TFT instrument panel, USB port, voice recognition, and voice alerts for driver assistance. Moreover, the system also offers media, phone and navigation mirroring between infotainment and the instrument cluster. The Tata Punch offers a boot space of 366-litres, and for easy ingress and egress, the Punch comes with 90-degree opening doors.

Under the hood, sits a BS6 1.2L Revotron, 3-cylinder, petrol engine that produces 84 BHP at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm of maximum torque at 3300 rpm. The engine is mated to both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox units.

In terms of safety, the Punch gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner safety control, front fog lamp with cornering function, child seat ISOFIX anchor points, parametric alarm system, reverse parking camera, driver & co-driver seat belt reminders, tire puncture repair kit, and first-in-segment – brake sway control (to avoid vehicle swaying from the driving path). The Tata Punch has scored a full 5-star rating for adult protection and a 4-star rating for child protection by the Global NCAP.
