- Gautam Taode, becomes the first Indian to raise on podium the Indian Flag in Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge 2014
Pune, December 4th 2014 – Pune based biker Gautam Taode created history as he emerged as the first Indian to complete Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge 2014 held recently at Bali- Indonesia.
Starkenn Sports Pvt. Ltd honoured Gautam Taode for the rare feat. On this occasion Starkenn Sports Private Limited launched its finest range of mountain bike ‘Giant XTC Advanced 27.5 O Team’. The bike was launched by Mr. Pravin Patil, Managing Director and CEO of Starkenn Sports pvt. Ltd in presence of Gautam Taode The feather weight bike has a composite frameset designed to handle the specific geometry demands of 27.5 inch wheels. The bike has a flawless mix of weight, comfort and performance.

In the Asia Pacific Downhill Challenge 2014, Gautam competed against top notch international bikers and completed the distance of 1.4 kilometers in 3 minutes 7 seconds and 127 microseconds. Gautam is now planning to participate in the World Downhill Championship to be held in August next year. Gautam is a Giant Starkenn Rider who currently uses – Giant Glory. Giant Glory is a regarded as the best bike in the category. Previously Gautam had emarged as runners up Nepal Urban Downhill Palpa in 2013, as well as clinched the second place in the Himachal downhill mountain bike international trophy last year.

It was one of the tougest downhill races I have competed in and my special thanks to Giant-Starkenn who helped me prepare for and complete this race. I was also excited to be a part of the launch for Giant’s Finest mountain bike, and look forward to riding the same sometime soon.”
