Land Rover known for its esteemed off-road vehicles, took a leap and entered the luxurious and sporty SUV segment challenging BMW and Mercedes, with the Range Rover Sport models in 2006. This calculated risk paid of so well that, Land Rover unveiled the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, ahead of its debut on August 14 at Pebble Beach Concorus d’ Elegance.
The 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR is described as the “most dynamically focused” Land Rover ever produced. According to Land Rover, the SVR which is to hit the global markets soon, will be the fastest SUV, completing the Nurburgring circuit with a recorded lap time of 8m 14s and a limited top speed of 162 mph (260.7 km/h). The Range Rover Sport SVR shall be “the SUV” to watch out for.
Powering this lightning fast and powerful Range Rover Sport SVR, is a 5.0 liter, supercharged V8 engine, same as seen in Jaguar’s R-S models, which is tuned to produce a whopping 550 PS of power and 680 Nm of torque- 40 BHP and 55 Nm more than the current Range Rover Sport supercharged. The engine is mated to a sport-tuned 8-speed Automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system, which enables the Sport SVR to clock 0-60 mph in an astounding 4.5 seconds.Without a doubt the new Range Rover Sport SVR seems to be powerful and zippy, to comply with these features, Land Rover has introduced new modifications to the exterior and interior of the Sport SVR. On the exterior, the front fascia sports a new grille, a new bumper with larger air intakes that feed two intercoolers, distinctive front fenders, 21-inch Continental Cross all-season alloy wheels and muscular side skirts add to the overall beastly look of the Sport SVR. The rear end sees a new spoiler and a new bumper with a gloss black diffuser that is infused with a four-tailpipe exhaust system. Inside the cabin, the features are mostly the same, except for the front and rear sport seats that have two-tone Oxford leather upholstery with SVR badging.
With great power comes greater performance and to enhance the Range rover Sport SVR’s performance, Land Rover introduced a few upgrades like the center differential with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and an improved Torque Vectoring system-balances the distribution of torque while cornering, Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential- which ensures torque is transferred to the rear wheels with most traction and an aluminium-intensive sports suspension with upgraded bushings, that take the performance level of the Range Rover Sport SVR to new heights.
The Range Rover Sport SVR will be priced at approximately $110,475 ( Rs 67,49470), but with its unbeatable performance, raw power and killer speed, the Range Rover Sport SVR is sure to drift past its competitors in the SUV segment.
