Tata Nexon EV Launched In India At Rs. 13.99 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, India)

Tata Motors launched their first and fully-electric compact SUV, the Nexon EV today at Rs. 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

The Nexon EV will be offered in three variants, XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX, ranging between Rs. 13.99 lakhs and Rs. 15.99 lakhs across 60 authorized dealerships in 22 cities. It will be available in three colour options – Signature Teal Blue, Moonlit Silver and Glacier White. Please note that the prices are introductory and are expected to increase in the nearby future.

The Nexon EV has an ARAI certified range of 321 km on a single charge. All three trims are loaded with features like projector headlights with LED DRLs,  keyless entry, auto climate control, power windows, power-adjustable ORVMs, 16-inch alloys, dual-tone colour options, a 7″ colour Multi-Information-Display and a 7″ touchscreen infotainment system with  Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Apart from these, the top-spec also gets a powered sunroof, automatic headlights, automatic rain-sensing wipers, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8-speaker Harman sound system and ZConnect, with 35 features.

The Nexon EV is powered by Tata’s Ziptron technology that gives it a fast-charging capability and a high-voltage system. The EV’s Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor is powered by a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The motor is mounted on the vehicle’s front axle and it produces 127.23 BHP and 245 Nm of torque that allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 9.9 seconds. It gets a single speed automatic transmission with Drive & Sports mode.

A CCS 2 (Combined Charging System) DC compatible fast charger will charge the car up to 80% within an hour while a regular 15A AC charger will take up to 9 hours to charge the car fully. The car also features Smart Regenerative Braking system which will recharge the battery when the brakes are applied and when the car is coasting. It also gets Hill Ascent & Descent Assist.

The company will be providing free home chargers and will also be providing access to its 300 DC fast-charging stations (which are being set up) with preferential charges for the Nexon EV vehicle owners. The company is also set to expand the network to 650 stations by March 2021. Apart from this, the company will also provide mobile charging services (if an owner gets stuck with a low charge or dead battery) in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad as of now.

The battery pack comes with a warranty period of 8 Year or 1,60,000 km (whichever is earlier) and the vehicle comes with a standard warranty period of 3 Year or 1,25,000 km (whichever is earlier) and a 5 Year extended warranty pack.
