Maruti Suzuki’s successor to the SX4, the Ciaz has now been launched at Rs 6.99 lakhs (ex-Delhi). There are six variants available in petrol, while the diesel engine is only offered in four trims.
At the global debut of the Ciaz, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO said, “Ciaz has been designed keeping in mind aspirations of a mid-size premium sedan customer. A complete package, the Ciaz offers European styling, premium rich interiors and a host of upmarket features. Ciaz Diesel is India’s most fuel efficient car. The designers have paid special attention to ensure space, comfort and convenience for rear seat occupants as well. We are confident that Ciaz will be warmly received as the preferred upgrade by compact cars owners.”
Thanking customers for the overwhelming response to the Ciaz, Mr Ayukawa added, “We are delighted with the bookings. It demonstrates customers’ confidence in brand Maruti Suzuki and reinforces our commitment to customers.”
Built on a brand new platform Ciaz is the longest and one of the widest sedan in its class.
The Company along with its vendors have invested Rs. 620 crore towards development of this model.
Christened innovatively, CIAZ stands for Comfort-Intelligence-Attitude-Zeal.
In addition to strengthening its presence in the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki plans to export the Ciaz to markets in the Middle East, Latin America and Africa regions
The base variant, that is the V, gets projector headlamps, front and rear armrests, key less entry, audio system with USB and AUX – in system. Fabric upholstery and electrically adjustable wing mirrors are also part of this package. Next in line is the V+, priced at Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) – the additional features in this trim include driver airbags, ABS and EBD along with climate controls, parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, an adjustable driver seat and steering mounted audio and telephone controls.
Rear sunshade, a reversing camera, fog lamps, keyless entry, dual front airbags and electric ORVMs are the additional features offered in the next trim that is the Z trim that runs 15-inch alloys. The feature list for the Z+ trim is upgraded with Maruti Suzuki’s Smart Play infotainment system, leather upholstery and a leather wrapped steering wheel.
The petrol engine offered is the the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol, while the 1.3-litre MultiJet powers all the diesel variants.
