Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially announced the much-anticipated debut of the Taisor, based on the Maruti Fronx, scheduled for April 3, 2024, in India. This launch marks the fourth collaboration between Maruti and Toyota, following the successful pairs of Baleno-Glanza, Grand Vitara-Hyryder, and Hycross-Invicto.
While inheriting the Maruti Fronx’s design silhouette, the Taisor sets itself apart with distinct features. Toyota has enhanced the model with a fresh front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, redesigned LED headlamps and taillamps, and a striking set of new alloy wheels. Inside, while the dashboard layout remains largely similar to the Fronx, expect unique cabin themes and seat upholstery to add to its appeal.
Loaded with top-notch features, the Taisor boasts a nine-inch smart touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a convenient wireless charger, rear AC vents for added comfort, cruise control for effortless driving, HUD for enhanced visibility, and a comprehensive 360-degree camera system.
Under the hood, the Taisor is likely to retain the engine options available in the Maruti Fronx lineup. Anticipate a choice between a 1.2-liter NA petrol engine generating 89bhp and 113Nm of torque and a robust 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 99bhp and 148Nm of torque. These engines can be paired with a five-speed manual, six-speed torque converter, or an AMT gearbox, providing versatility to suit diverse driving preferences.
Upon its launch, the Toyota Taisor will enter a competitive segment, facing off against formidable rivals such as the Maruti Fronx, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. With its blend of style, features, and performance, the Taisor is poised to make a strong impression in the compact SUV market.
