Mahindra continues to test the Thar five-door model in India ahead of its anticipated launch on 15 August. Recent spy shots provide a closer look at a production-ready test vehicle.

New Features

The images reveal that the new Mahindra Thar five-door will feature dual-tone alloy wheels, a rear wiper and washer, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from the recently launched XUV300. Unlike its three-door sibling, which offers a convertible-top option, the five-door version will be available only in a hard-top body style.

Design Enhancements

The 2024 Thar five-door will distinguish itself from its smaller counterpart with a new grille, a longer wheelbase, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and LED taillights. These updates give the vehicle a more robust and stylish appearance.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the Thar five-door is expected to include a single-pane sunroof, rear AC vents, a fully digital instrument cluster, an engine start-stop button, cruise control, and automatic climate control. Additionally, an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite may be offered.

Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the upcoming Thar is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both engines are expected to be paired with six-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmissions.

These updates and features aim to make the Mahindra Thar five-door a more versatile and appealing option in the lifestyle SUV segment.
