Reports on the internet suggest that the Hero HX250R motorcycle which was revealed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo could make it to the streets in November 2014. Sources have revealed that the company plans to get the light weight and powerful quarter litre offering on the streets this year itself. The motorcycle has been jointly developed by Hero MotorCorp, Eric Buell Racing (EBR), AVL, and Engines Engineering.

When launched, the HX250R will be the most powerful product offering from the Hero MotoCorp stable. It will be powered by a 250cc, EFI, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 31 BHP of power and 26 Nm of torque. The bike is built on a geodesic tubular chassis and it gets a telescopic front fork and a monoshock with 5-step adjustments at the back. It will get a 300mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake with combi brake function and optional ABS. It has a kerb weight of 139 kg and a fuel carrying capacity of 12.9 litres.

On the design front, the HX250R is a fully faired motorcycle and will be slotting above the recently refreshed Karizma ZMR. As seen at the auto expo, the bike gets a sharp design language taking inspiration from the Eric Buell motorcycles. It has a dual headlamp setup at the front with a tall windscreen, handlebars are of the clip on category but will be more suitable for touring purpose, split and step-up seats and a first in the segment under-seat exhaust. It gets a LED tail lamp setup and a full digital instrument cluster with markings for the tachometer. The model revealed at the auto expo was wearing Pirelli tyres and it would be great if the production variant comes out with these rubbers. Rider foot pegs are rear set as well. If the refreshed Karizma variants disappointed you, the HX250R will surely make up for it when launched.

Expected pricing to be in the range of 1.3 – 1.5 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
