Tyre and wheel are often confusing terms. To make it simple, wheels are the metal (steel/alloy/modern – carbon fibre) parts that are connected to the vehicle’s axles, and tyre is the rubber tubing that fits over the wheel. The tyre fits around the wheel rim and makes contact with road surface.
